Ritual for Jubilee 2025 Released in New Delhi

New Delhi (CCBI): On November 30, 2024, Archbishop Anil Joseph Thomas Couto, Secretary General of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) and Archbishop of Delhi, officially unveiled the English translation of the Ritual for the Jubilee 2025. The event took place at the Archbishop’s House in New Delhi, where Archbishop Couto ceremoniously presented the first copy to Sister Alessandra Smerilli, F.M.A., Secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.

The Jubilee Ritual is a comprehensive guide comprising prayers and liturgical directives aimed at facilitating meaningful celebrations throughout the anticipated Jubilee Year 2025. This resource is specifically designed to aid bishops and priests as they lead various liturgical events within their dioceses, ensuring a spiritually enriching experience for the faithful.

The Catholic Church will observe 2025 as a Jubilee Year, also referred to as the Holy Year, under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.” The Jubilee is set to commence on December 24, 2024, with Pope Francis officiating at the Opening of the Holy Door at the Papal Basilica of St. Peter in Vatican City. In dioceses around the globe, the Jubilee celebrations will begin on December 29, 2024, marked by Holy Masses led by diocesan bishops or administrators in their respective cathedrals.

The Jubilee Year is scheduled to conclude in dioceses on December 28, 2025, culminating in a solemn closing ceremony on January 26, 2026, when Pope Francis will close the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica.

The release ceremony witnessed the presence of various esteemed guests, including Bishop Ignatius Mascarenhas of Simla-Chandigarh, Bishop Deepak Tauro, Auxiliary Bishop of Delhi, Rev. Dr. Stephen Alathara, Deputy Secretary General of the CCBI, Rev. Dr. Christopher Vimalraj, Associate Deputy Secretary General, among others.

For those interested in obtaining copies of the Jubilee Ritual, inquiries can be directed to ccbipublications@gmail.com or via mobile at 9886730224.
