RKM’s Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan completes 371 of 400 Abhiyans

Mangaluru: Thirty-first week of 10 cleanliness drives of the 400 Abhiyans being organised by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru took off on Sunday, 7th May 2017 at 10 different locations in the city.

362 Hampankatta– Cleanliness drive was carried out by the students of Sahyadri Engineering College in the surrounding areas of Milagres Circle. Swami Prajnanathanandaji of Tirupathi Ramakrishna Mission and Sunitha Priya D’Silva jointly flagged off the drive. Students were divided into three groups by the Vice Principal of the Sahyadri Engineering College, S S Balakrishna. The first group cleaned the Falnir Road, the Second cleaned the Railway Station Road and the third, the Hampankatta Main road. Under the leadership of Dilraj Alva, the students removed illegal posters and banners. Rashmitha coordinated the drive.

363 Padavinangady– The members of Friends For Ever and the staff and employees of Srinidhi Enterprises carried out the drive in the Padavinangady junction area. Swami Ekagamyanandaji and Suresh Kumar of Srinidhi Enterprises jointly flagged off the drive. Shubhoday Alva led the group of volunteers in cleaning the Airport road and surrounding area. They also cleared heaps of sand accumulated on the concrete road thus helping the pedestrians and motorists. Prabhakar Padavinangady, Anitha Kanchan, Sandip Savanth and several others participated in the drive.

364 Ladyhill Circle– The members of Art Of Living took up the cleanliness drive at the Lady Hill Circle and surrounding area including Chilimbi. Kudroli Ganesh, renowned magician flagged off the drive. One group of volunteers cleaned the Ladyhill circle and the road leading towards Udupi and another cleaned three bus shelters in the area. They also renovated and repainted the bus shelters. The illegal posters and flex banners were removed. Dr Shivaram Rao, Thanuja and several others actively participated in the drive. Sadashiva Kamath coordinated the team.

365 Pandeshwar – The inmates of Bhagaini Samaja and the members of Nivedita Balaga carried out the cleanliness drive near Pandeshwar Railway Crossing under the guidance of Rathna Alva. Vijayalakshmi Rao flagged off the drive. Volunteers cleaned the surroundings of the railway gate and the railway track. They also cleaned the main road and both sides of the road. Vijayalakshmi led the group of volunteers.

366 Bejai – The Team of Mangalore Seniors took up the drive in Bejai New Road. Dr Anasuya and Krishnappa jointly flagged off the drive. Ramesh Rao led the group of volunteers in cleaning the road and the adjoining drains by removing heaps of garbage. C D Kamath, Nagesh K and many others participated in the drive. Ramkumar Bekal coordinated the team.

367 Ganeshpura – The members of JCI carried out the drive near Ganeshpura Temple. Gautham Nayak a Prashanth Nayak flagged off the drive. Volunteers under the guidance of Dr Sampath Kumar cleaned the area from Ganeshpura to Mangalapet. Sandesh Sharath, Chandan Robinson D’Souza and others participated in the drive. Sreeeha Karmaran coordinated the team of volunteers.

368 Farangipete – The students of Srinivas Engineering College along with the devotees of Sri Naganagini temple carried out the cleanliness drive in Farangipet area. Santosh Kumar Tuppekal and Sukumar Dharmagiri flagged off the drive. Volunteers cleaned both sides of the highway and removed the plastic waste and also banners and flex hoardings. They cleaned the bus shelter and painted it thus giving it a much-needed facelift. Abhishek V S Coordinated the team.

369 Deralakatte – The medical students of the team “Kshema” took up the drive in Deralakatte area. Dr Sachin and Dr Shashikran flagged off the drive. The area between Deralakatte Shagli Towers and Kshema Hospital was thoroughly cleaned by the volunteers by removing the plastic waste, garbage etc. Kshema Allied Health Dept. actively helped in the drive.

370 Car Street – The students of Govt. First Grade College, Car Street carried out cleanliness work in and around GFGC Car Street. The principal of the college, Rajashekhar Hebbar flagged off the drive and actively guided the students. Prof. Sheshappa Amin coordinated the team of students.

371 Karangaplady – The residents of Karangalpady and Auto drivers took up the drive in CG Kamath Road. M R Vasudev guided the volunteers. Manish Rao, Rakshith and many others participated in the drive.

MRPL & Nitte are patronising this 3rd phase of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan.

This is one of the most wonderful initiatives and the enthusiasm, dedication and effort is truly worth a thunderous applause. Many thanks. Just hope that the citizens of the city do keep our city clean and dont litter the place.
