Robbery at Balmatta Abhiman Texas, 7 Arrested
Mangaluru: The Kadri police have arrested 7 of the accused on December 5, in connection with the robbery in flat no 604, at Abhiman Texas, Balmatta Road on September 8.
The arrested have been identified as Rakesh Bonifas D’Souza (37) from Shivabagh Kadri, Ashok Pandhrekar (36) from Goa, Ganesh Bapu Parab (37) from Goa, Shaheer Mohamed (37) from Abhiman Texas, Balmatta, Janardhan Acharya (41) from Kotekar, Chandan Acharya (44) from Mangaladevi and Purushotham Acharya (46) from Kotekar Beeri.
In September, between 8 to 13, the accused had entered the master bedroom of flat number 604 through the ventilator duct. They then used a lever to break open the locker in the master bedroom and decamped with gold ornaments like earrings, gold bangles, bracelet, necklace, Diamond necklace, Diamond ring, golden watch and Gold biscuits worth Rs 35 lakh and cash Rs 65,000. In this connection, a case was filed in the Mangaluru East police station under section 454, 457 and 380 IPC.
A special team was formed to nab the accused. The Mangaluru East police arrested the accused and seized the gold ornaments, an Alto car, Hyundai car, Bullet Motorcycle and equipment used to melt the gold from their possession.
Accused Rakesh was also involved in a dacoity case in Gujarat. In April 2018, Rajesh had met Narayan Salian in regard to the dacoity in Gujarat. On April 24, 2018 Rajesh along with Narayan Salian and Ashok Pandhrekar had gone to Gujrat. On April 28 all the three had barged into the house of a Marwadi, tied him up and decamped with Rs 3.5 crore. During the elections, they were unable to come to Karnataka and had stayed at a lodge. But the Gujarat police had arrested them along with the money. Rakesh was the main accused in the Honey trapping case in 2017 under the West police station limits.
Under the direction of Police commissioner Dr Harsha IPS and under the able guidance of DCP Law and Order Arungshu Giri, DCP Crime and Traffic Lakshmi Ganesh and ACP Jagadish Nayak the operation was carried out by Police Inspector Shantharam Kundar, Kantharaju, PSI Pradeep, PSI Maruti and team.
