Roshni Nilaya and Yenepoya Hold Forensic Science in Crime Investigation and Exhibition

Mangaluru: The Post Graduate Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, in collaboration with the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Yenepoya University, Deralakatte organised an interactive session on ‘Forensic Science in Criminal Investigation’ at the College Campus here on August 30.

The students of Post Graduate Diploma in Forensic Anthropology, Yenepoya University, Deralakatte were the delegates. Saritha D’Souza, Head of the Department of Criminology and Forensic Science addressed the delegates with regard to the steps involved in the police investigation, the procedure of collecting scientific evidence and its forensic importance. The session was followed by their visit to the ‘Forensic Science Exhibition 2018’.

The Post Graduate students of the department had taken the initiative to explain various sections of Forensic Science and demonstrated a few techniques of laboratory analysis of scientific pieces of evidence. The methods of searching and sketching the crime scene, handling, packing and preservation of physical evidence were demonstrated through a simulated crime scene of a murder.
