‘SPANDANA’ is a platform for the convergence of student Social Workers to share thoughts, ideas and knowledge and to work together for serving society in a better way. The need for a platform for interaction among students was actuated during the year 2002 and the result is SPANDANA-RESPONDING TO REALITIES, an annual conference for student social workers. The success of the event has motivated the college and Spandana has become the most awaited annual feature.
The theme, “From Diversity towards Inclusion: A Social Work Paradigm” is the cry of the hour. Inequality is visible across all facets of our society and impacts each one of us directly or indirectly. Diversity and Social Inclusion are the underpinnings of what the social work profession stands for and influences everything we do. When everyone feels welcomed and safe, the rising tide does truly lift all boats. We need a massive systemic change in order for justice to be a reality for everyone. We believe each and every one of us has the ability to influence this change. In 2018, promoting diversity is an expected commitment that facilitates the transition from viewing the world around you as dissimilar to building an inclusive space for everyone to coexist.
