Rowdy Parade: 200 Criminal Record Holders Paraded at Police Grounds

Mangaluru: To maintain the law and order in the district during the Lok Sabha elections the police officials in the Police commissionerate got into action and raided all the houses of those booked under the rowdy list. All those in the rowdy list were brought to the police ground and paraded on March 14.

Nearly 200 persons included in the rowdy sheeter list were brought to the Police ground for the rowdy parade.

Speaking to the mediapersons Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil said, “Today in the Mangaluru commissionerate limits police officials simultaneously held a special drive at 5 am and raided the houses of all the active rowdies and anti-social elements. The raid was carried out by the police inspectors of the respective police stations along with the CCB police simultaneously. The police checked their houses for weapons, vehicles, their activities and the currency they use”.

Sandeep Patil further said, “During the raid, we have recovered two machetes from Surma Imran’s house who belongs to the Target gang. The Suratkal police have recovered a Scorpio vehicle, 2 two-wheelers and a car from Kodikere Manoj and Chethan’s house that did not have any documents. We have brought 200 persons for the rowdy parade. We will check whether cases have been registered against them recently, their current activities etc. The police have all the records of their current activities. Appropriate action will be taken against them depending on the gravity of the crime. We may also remove the names of those with good behaviour from the rowdy sheeter list”.

Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Patil said, “You all know that you have been involved in various crimes. We will monitor your activities. In the coming days if we find your behaviour to be good, we may remove you from the rowdy sheeter list. All of you should become good citizens and take up steady jobs. If you indulge in criminal activities we will take stern action against you. We have many ways to take action against those who violate the law and order. We will also take a bond from you and if you change for the better we can close the cases filed against you. Those who continue their criminal activities will be dealt sternly and may also be externed which will not only put you in trouble but your family will also suffer. During the elections, your activities will be monitored, so, I request all of you to give up your criminal activities and change for the better becoming good citizens of this country.”

DCP Law and Order Hanumantharaya, DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth, Inspectors and Sub-inspectors from all the police stations were also present.
