Rowdy-sheeter arrested in Hit-and-run case in Kavoor

Mangaluru: The CCB police arrested a youth on October 25, in connection with a hit and run case at Marakada Junction on October 22.

The arrested has been identified as Abdul Muneer alias Muneer (22), a resident of Shanthigudde Bajpe.

According to the police, on October 22, during the Chief Minister’s visit to Dakshina Kannada, Police Inspector of Mangaluru City Traffic North Sub-division Manjunath and team were on duty at Marakada Junction. At around 6:30 pm, Muneer came on his two-wheeler from Bajpe to the junction without wearing a helmet. The police on duty instructed Muneer to stop the bike but he hit his bike to Police inspector Cheluvaraj and fled from the spot.

Cheluvaraj who was injured in the incident was rushed to the hospital. The Police Inspector of Mangaluru City Traffic North Sub-division Manjunath filed a complaint in the Kavoor Police station. The Kavoor police had registered a case and were investigating. On October 25, the CCB police arrest the accused.

Accused Muneer was involved in various chain snatching and theft cases and 10 cases have been registered against him in the Suratkal, Bajpe, Mangaluru South and Ullal police stations. In 2015 Muneer was involved in the Ganesh Shetty murder case in Mangaluru Jail. Three months ago Muneer was released on bail. In Barke police station, a Rowdy Sheeter case is also registered against him.

Under the able direction of Police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Law and Order Hanumantharaya, DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth, the operation was carried out by the CCB police led by Inspector Sunil Naik.
