Rs 50 Entry Fee for Kadri Musical Fountain and laser Show Effective Apr 20

Mangaluru: April 19 was the last night that public could watch the Musical Fountain and Laser Show at the Deer Park, opposite Kadri park- because as of today, April 20, 2018- Kadri Development Committee (KDC) has now decided to charge entry fee for those who want to visit the Deer Park, comprising of the Musical Fountain and the Laser Show. Unfortunately, people who made it to the Park yesterday being Free entry for the last time, were not lucky to see the show since it poured heavily last night. Effective April 20, adults will be charged Rs 50 and Rs 25 for children aged 6 to 12, to see the Musical Fountain and Laser Show- but for those who just want to visit the Deer Park, they will also have to pay Rs 10 {adults} and Rs 5 {children}.

The decision taken to charge entry fee is for the fact, the project had cost nearly Rs 7 crore, and it costs nearly Rs 90,000 a month towards the maintenance, including electricity charges paid to MESCOM. It is learnt that the amount collected through entry fee will be made used towards the project cost, maintenance, power and water bills, and future upgrading of the Amusement Park. But for those who are reluctant to pay an entry fee, you can still do your walking/jogging/exercise/yoga etc FREE of cost at the nearby Kadri Park.

Speaking to Team Mangalorean, MUDA Commissioner Srikant Rao said, ” Until now MUDA had taken the responsibility of undertaking all the expenses incurred at the Park towards Maintenance, which is around Rs 90,000, plus the power and water charges, including other minor services. Pretty soon the responsibility will be handed over to the horticultural department which will have to raise revenue towards the maintenance cost. We have also decided to charge an additional fee for the parking facility. Even, joggers who use the deer park will also have to pay a minimum fee, the amount is yet to be decided.

Jayanki, Senior Assistant Horticulture Director speaking to the media has said, “The Kadri park is maintained by the horticulture department. But for the deer park, we need to raise funds. Plans to charge an entry fee were underway since January, but there was no expenditure committee formed then. In March, the 11-member Kadri development committee including local MLA J R Lobo, DDO, and officials from the forest department under the leadership of the deputy commissioner finally decided the rates to be enforced in April, so as of today we will be imposing the entry fee”

Now, the department has to cross their fingers and wait and see, as to how many will patronize the Musical Fountain and the Laser Show, after introducing the Entry fee?.
