RSS monitors functioning of Union government departments: Rahul
Kalaburagi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is functioning as the policy monitor of the Union government said AICC President Rahul Gandhi. Each department of the Union government has ‘RSS directors’ he remarked.
Speaking to a large gathering at the PDA Engineering College auditorium on Tuesday, he interacted with entrepreneurs and technology experts.
Replying to a question, he said Union government officials don’t seek the opinions of experts anymore. They work according to what RSS members say. This applies to all departments of the Central government, the AICC chief accused.
“The move to demonitise currency was not recommended by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s department. An RSS member’s suggestion was carried out by Prime Minister Modi. It was a move to turn black money into white,” Rahul alleged.
Dubbing GST as ‘Gabbar Singh Tax’ Rahul said that it was a complicated system of taxation and merchants are struggling to understand the new system.
“Once Congress comes to power, we will simplify the GST and bring about many more tax reforms,” he added.
He critisised India’s foreign policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that Russia and many other friendly nations have moved away from India. “India has become lonely in the Asian continent,” he averred.
Meanwhile, someone from the audience shouted: “When are you getting married?”. Evading this question, Rahul said that even KPCC President Dr G Parameshwara and others in the party had asked him the same question.
