Sad Demise of Founder President of Beary Sahitya Parishad Abdul Rahim T K
Mangaluru: The Founder President of Beary Sahitya Parishad, a renowned entrepreneur, well-known poet and writer, translator Abdul Rahim T K passed away at the age of 65, due to a brief illness at his home in Mangaluru.
Abdul Rahim was the managing director of Teekays Corporate Concepts Pvt Ltd. located near Bendore-well, Mangaluru. He was very much involved in the activities pertaining to the Beary language movement. He was also the convener of the historical FIRST Beary Sahitya Sammelana that was held in Town Hall, Mangaluru in the year 1998. The credit of success of the second and third Beary Sahitya Sammelana held at Neralakatte of Bantwal in 1999 and at Udupi in 2001 respectively, goes to Abdul Rahim as he was the president of the Parishad during that period. His contribution in forming the Beary Sahitya Academy is great.
His Beary translation of the English – Kannada poem ‘For You’ written by Mamata G Sagar was published under English compilation of poems called ‘Hide and Seek’ and was honoured internationally. His maiden Beary compilation of poems ‘Mallige Balli’ is a unique contribution to the literary world of Beary language. The credit of translating the world-renowned English novel ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho, after getting the official permission from the original writer, to Kannada in the name of ‘Rasavadi’ goes to Abdul Rahim. The ideological writings, review, stories and poems written by Abdul Rahim have been published in various magazines.
Abdul Rahim T K was born in Jokatte, in the outskirts of Mangaluru and brought up in Bajpe. He was the second son of Bawa Abdul Khader and Salma Abdul Khader of prestigious Kademane family. Rahim leaves behind his wife, two sons, relatives and a large number of well-wishers and admirers.
