Sahyadrians Students bag First Place in NIT, Tiruchirappalli
Mangaluru: First year Engineering from Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management Students won first place in the event “Robovision” at Pragyan 2017 – The Annual International Techno-Management fest of National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
Abhishek M, Abhishek M B, Badruddin B A, Deepthi, H Ashwin Prabhu, H Siddanth Nayak, H Ranjith Rao, Kaushik K, Krishna Karanth S, Kshithija J S, N Avinash Nayak, Prashamsa P, Prithviraj Ranjan Kumar, Rishel Saldanha, Rohan Sathish Acharya, Sheershika S Shetty, Shreyas Kamath, Sharanya M S, Sreelakshmi C, Usha B along with Mr. Gautham Nayak ( Technical Trainer, DTlabz) took part in the event. The team won first prize amongst participants from various IITs and NITs. Students were trained by Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd.
The team was successful in building an image processing robot which could recognize shape and colour and then collect these resources and return to its home position autonomously to achieve the target score using an overhead camera feed. The team completed the entire task in just 36 seconds and was the only robot to finish the task with maximum points. Dr Manjunath Bhandary, President, Bhandary Foundation, Dr D. L. Prabhakara, Director of Sahyadri Educational Institutions and Dr.Umesh. M. Bhushi, Principal of the college congratulated the winning team.
