Saint Anthony’s Annual Feast-10th/11th Day of Novena & 1st Day of Tridum

Mangaluru : The Tenth day Novena in honour of St. Anthony was celebrated at St. Anthony’s Ashram, Jeppu on June 09, 2019. Fr Nizel Joy D’Souza from St Joseph Vaz, Mudipu Parish offered the Holy Mass for the intention of couples preparing for marriage.

The Sunday being the feast day of the descent of the Holy Spirit Fr Lizel preached a homily on the Holy Spirit the person of Triune God. The descent of the Holy Spirit changed the life of Apostles of Jesus. The timid and the frightened Apostles were filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. They went forth preaching the death and resurrection of Jesus not minding the impending suffering. They even died as martyrs while giving witness to Jesus.

Fr Lizel said that all those who desire the gift of Holy Spirit receive it and he called on the devotees to seek the same. He also prayed for couples preparing themselves for marriage that they may be filled with the gift of Holy Spirit that they may make good decisions in life may always be guided in the right path. Fr Onil D’Souza the Director of the Ashram conducted the Chaplet and the Rosary. Fr Trishan D’Souza the Assistant Director conducted the novena. Hundreds of people participated in the devotion.

Saint Anthony’s Annual Feast-Eleventh Day of Novena

The eleventh day Novena in honour of St. Anthony was celebrated at St. Anthony’s Ashram, Jeppu on June 10, 2019. Rev. Fr. Roopesh Tauro, Assistant Parish Priest of Kinnigoli was the main celebrant. The special intention for the day was for the Good Samaritans of the world who have been working for the betterment of the society.

Fr. Roopesh in his homily highlighted the story of Saint Damian of Molokai who tirelessly and selflessly worked among the lepers to the extent of himself contracting the deadly disease. He spoke of the beatitudes and how each baptized catholic could be a good Samaritan by helping those in need and praying for those involved in social work.

Fr Trishan and Fr Roshan, Assistant Directors concelebrated the Mass, while Fr. Trishan conducted the Rosary and Novena.

St Anthony’s Annual Feast -First Day of Triduum (3 Days of Novena)

As an immediate preparation for the St Anthony’s Annual Feast to be celebrated at Saint Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu on June 13, the Triduum (three days novena) began on Monday 10th June, 2019. Fr Benjamin Pinto the Parish Priest and Shrine Director of St Joseph Vaz, Mudipu celebrated the Holy Mass on the first day(Monday, 10-06-2019) of Triduum at 6 p.m. at Milagres Church.

In his message he said that sharing resources with those who are in dire need and poverty is the best offering that we can give to God. He quoted two examples from Bible-Jesus highlighted the copper coin dropped by the widow in the temple treasury as a great offering. She gave away whatever she little she had in comparison with what the handful of money given by the Pharisees from their abundance. St Paul too praised the generous donation of Church at Corinth for their large heartedness towards the needy people. St Anthony in his life lived a life of sharing. Hence Fr Pinto said that life of sharing and service is a great that we can give to God.

Fr Thrishan D’Souza the Assistant Director of the Ashram conducted the novena. Simon Pais and his team from Holy Spirit Church Bajal helped the congregation to sing the hymns. Fr Onil D’Souza the Director of the Ashram, Fr Roshan D’Souza the Asst Director and large number of devotees participated in today’s devotion.
