Saint Anthony’s Ashram holds Muhurtha of Kannada T.V. Serial ‘Miracles of Saint Anthony’

Saint Anthony’s Ashram holds Muhurtha of Kannada T.V. Serial ‘Miracles of Saint Anthony’

Mangaluru: Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha the Bishop of Mangalore inaugurated the Muhurtha programme of the T.V. Serial ‘Miracles of Saint Anthony’ by displaying the title on the T.V. screen mounted on the stage. He then released the Script of the Serial and blessed it by invoking God’s Blessings. In his message the Bishop said Saint Anthony being the faithful follower of Jesus Christ dedicated his life to the spreading of Kingdom of God. As a reward for his Ministry God has preserved his tongue through past eight Centuries. He said that he had the privilege of visiting the place Padua in Italy where the tongue is preserved. Further he said that the upcoming T.V. Serial will help devotees of Saint Antony around the world to see his life and miracles and get inspired to do good.

U. T. Khader, the Minister, Karnataka State Govt was the chief guest of the programme. In his message he said that the name of Saint Anthony is popular all over the world and among the people of all faith. He wished well to all those who are involved in the production of the serial and said that more people can now obtain favours through the intercession of Saint Anthony after watching the serial.

Ivan D’Souza, M.L.C. of Karnataka State Legislative Council was the Guest of honour. In his address he said, “Saint Anthony is a Saint of Miracles. People irrespective of religion stop for a while near the Statue of Saint Anthony outside the gate of Ashram and pray for a while and say that if they do that their entire day becomes peaceful. I wish the serial on the miracles of Saint Anthony will help many more to come know the greatness of Saint”. Ashwin Pereira the producer of Asathoma Sadgamaya’ movie wished well to the production work of the serial. He called on the team which works on the serial to give importance to the message of the serial. He stressed that the people at the end of the day should get some message and the serial should not become just an entertainment. He expressed confidence such work will come out in the Serial on Saint Anthony’s life and miracles.

Wishes from Ramesh Bhat and Ms Ashalatha the Cine Actors who will be acting in the serial were played on the T.V. screen. Fr Onil D’Souza, the director of St Anthony’s Ashram welcomed the dignitaries and the guests. He also spoke on the purpose of producing the serial. He said “Saint Anthony was born in the 12th Century in Portugal and worked in the 13th Century and died at the young age of 36. A true follower of Jesus and committed to his vocation Saint Anthony preached and performed number of miracles in the name of Jesus. The phrase thirteen miracles goes along with the name of Saint Anthony as synonymous. He is also known as the Saint of impossible meaning to say that impossible things become possible through his intercession. He is specially invoked when things are lost. The devotion of Saint Anthony has been in existence in Mangaluru for more than a century. There are devotees of Saint Anthony around the world who visit the Shrine at Milagres Church and also Saint Anthony’s Ashram which takes care of 400 destitute at Jeppu”.

Fr Onil further said, “This T.V. serial has been planned in Kannada on the life and miracles of Saint Anthony so that people around the globe can view the same and benefit from the devotion of Saint Anthony. Saint Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu will be the producer of the serial, while Vincent Fernandes of ‘Mogachi Lahra’ fame is the Director and will do the Cienematography. John M. Permannur has written the Script. Around 140 people will be acting in the serial, to name a few actors Film actors, namely Ramesh Bhat, Mrs Vinaya Prasad, Mrs Asha Latha and Ms Vamshi will feature in the serial.”

As the Month of December begins the whole world is gearing up to celebrate Christmas, the Birthday day of Jesus the Prince of Peace, and in preparation for the feast the Church begins the season of Advent on the first Sunday of December. On this occasion Saint Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu has planned to hold ‘Christa Namana 2018’, a programme which depicts the scenes around the birth of Jesus through Kannada Tableau and singing of Carols in Kannada, Tulu, Konkani, and English. The programme will be held in four places of Mangalore city limit. On Saturday the 1st of December the programme will be held at Deralakatte junction at 5.30 pm and at Thokkottu Bus Stand at 6.30 pm.; on Sunday the 2nd of December at 4.30 at Panamboor Beach and near Kadri Park at 6 p.m. During this Muhurat occasion Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza Bishop Emeritus of Mangaluru delivered a Christmas message, and blessed the tableau truck, and the Çhrista Namana 2018 programme.

Vincent Fernandes the Director of the serial, Mr John M. Permannur the Script writer were present on the stage. Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, Fr Francis D’Souza, Fr Harold Mascarenhas, Fr Peter D’Souza, Fr Ronald D’Souza, Mrs Jacintha Alfred the former Mayor, Ms Appi the Corporator were present along with artists and large number of guests. Mrs Lavita Menezes compered the programme. Fr Thrishan D’Souza the Asst Director proposed the vote of thanks.
