‘Samadhan’ and ‘Suvidha’ Apps to help in Smooth and Transparent Election Process – DC Priyanka
Udupi: “The Election Commission has launched three information technology systems – Samadhan and Suvidha to make the election process smooth, effective and transparent”, said Priyanka Mary Francis Deputy commissioner, Udupi District.
Samadhan, a complaint monitoring system has two systems for logical operations. One for the submission of information, suggestion and complaint. The system will identify as to which level of official is the right authority to deal with the information, it will immediately pass it on to him/her. The official will get an alert indicating receipt of the submission.
Second is monitoring level by senior officials for keeping the disbursal of the complaints and actions taken to resolve them in a time bound manner. Candidates and political parties apply for different permissions like meetings, rallies, vehicles, temporary election office, loudspeakers, helicopters and helipads during the election campaign, she added.
Suvidha, the single window clearance for permission related to campaigning will facilitate in bringing more transparency in applying, processing and granting of permissions. All permissions to candidates and political parties except for helicopters will be granted or refusal communicated within 24 hours from the submission of the application online. All no objections from all departments will be obtained by the online system. She further said that the Election Commission has issued guidelines regarding accounting of the expenses incurred on sending short message service (SMS) by candidates and parties during campaigns. Before sending Bulk SMS the candidate or party should take prior permission from Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for the broadcast and publishing of campaign material. If messages are being circulated without the MCMC’s consent and the candidates are unaware of this, they need to inform the authorities, she added.
DC Priyanka Mary also released the Audio and Video CD on voter awareness and Vote invitation on the occasion. The CD contains the Tulu and Kannada songs and Yakshagana Songs on voter awareness, and also the voice message of famous persons on Voter awareness. Kabaddi Player Mamatha Poojary and Karate Champion Karthik Kateel messages are also included urging the young and old to come out and vote in the ensuing Assembly elections on May 12, they also explain why and how their vote is important.
