Fiona Sweedal (16) was the daughter of Francis Cutinha. She was studying in a prestigious college in the city and was murdered by her own brother on October 8.
Fiona’s mother is working in an IT Company and father Francis has retired. During Dasara Holidays Fiona, her brother Samson and father Francis were at home. At around 11:00 am, Francis went out to bring some sweets to his children and when he returned at 1:30 pm Fiona was not at home.
When Francis asked his son Samson about Fiona, Samson said that she had gone to Mangaluru. When Francis tried to call Fiona her mobile was also switched off but the location was showing as Mudipu. Since Fiona did not take any money and had gone with the dress she was wearing at home, Francis got suspicious and filed a missing person’s complaint in the Konaje police station.
The police started their search for Fiona and in the process questioned Samson. Finally, Samsom admitted to the crime and said that he had hit Fiona with a hammer, dragged her body and dumped it in the bushes behind the house. When the police checked the spot they found Fiona’s skeletal remains.
