Sangeeth Parishath, BVB and RKM to host ‘Mangaluru Sangeethotsava -2017’
Sangeeth Parishath, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) and RamaKrishna Math (RKM) to host ‘Mangaluru Sangeethotsava -2017’- a Carnatic classical Music festival at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, Ramakrishna Math, Mangaladevi, Mangaluru from November 23 to November 26, 2017
Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, M R Vasudeva, President, Sangetha Parishath said, “Sangeetha Parishath, Mangalore (R), in association with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Sri Ramakrishna Math is organizing a Carnatic classical music fest in Mangaluru on November 23, 24, 25 and 26th at Swami Vivekananda Auditorium, Ramakrishna Matha, Mangaladevi, Mangaluru. The festival would feature Carnatic classical music concerts by renowned artistes of South Indian Carnatic Classical Music.”
He further said, “The fest commences on this 23rd, at 5p.m., with lighting of lamp by Raghavendra Shastry, the Managing Trustee of Sharavu Mahaganapathi Temple with the presidential presence of Swami Jithakamanadaji, President, Ramakrishna Matha. Ashok Kumar Dash, AGM, Union Bank of India, Chandrahasa Rai, Asst Director, Dept of Kannada & Culture, D.K, Govt of Karnataka, and K. Ramakrishna, MD, MESCOM will be the guests of honour. The inaugural session will be followed by a vocal recital by Smt N J Nandini at 5.15 p.m.Master Shrisha R, winner of Sangeetha Parishath Junior level music competition, will render a vocal recital at 4. p.m before the inaugural session.”
“On 24th November, Kum Dhanashri Shabaraya will present a Violin recital at 4.00 pm followed by a vocal concert by Vinaya Sharva at 5 pm. On 25th , a Veena concert will be rendered by Ms. Rakshitha Ramesh at 3.30 pm. and Ms.Aishwarya Vidya Raghunath will render a vocal concert at 5 pm. 26th November, a musical marathon day for the carnatic music lovers. The concerts begin at 10.00 a.m. with a flute recital by Chandan Kumar, followed by a vocal recital by the winner of Sangeetha Parishath Senior level music competition Kum. Divyashri, at 2. pm post lunch. Renowned Vocalist Abhishek Raghuram will present a Vocal recital at 5.30 pm.” added Vasudeva.
Prof G R Rai, Hon. Vice-President, Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan also speaking said, “The valedictory function of the 4 days’ music festival will be held at 4.00p.m. Swami Jithakamanadaji, President, Ramakrishna Matha has consented to preside over the function. B K Manjunatha Bhat, GM, Karnataka Bank Ltd, C K Gopal, GM, Corporation Bank, A Sridhar Murthy, DGM, Vijaya Bank RO, Mangaluru and Kishore Alva, ED, Adani UPCL will be the guests of honour. Kalmady Sadashiva Acharya, a well known Sangeetha Vidwan from Kasaragod will be felicitated, during the function, for his contribution to the field of music.”
H Subrahmanya Rao, Secretary of Sangeetha Parishath said, “Young Talent Awards will be given to Kum. Divyashree, Siddarth Prakash, Abhishek and Master Shrisha R P. The prize winners of the music competitions held in connection with Music Festival will also be honoured in this function. During the festival, the artistes would be honoured by N Sitarama Somayaji, DGM, Syndicate Bank, Mangaluru. Smt Vasanthi Padakannaya, P Vishweshwara Rau, Senior Div. Manager, LIC Udupi. Padma Vibhushana Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala, has conveyed his blessings for the success of the function.
The Department of Kannada & Culture, Govt. of Karnataka and the organizations like Karnataka Bank, Union Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Vijaya Bank, MESCOM, Syndicate Bank, LIC of India, Adani UPCL and many other Institutions and individuals, are the main sponsors of the music festival.”
