Sangh Parivar Directly Responsible for Kalladka Violence – PFI
Mangaluru: “The accused in the attempt to murder case of two Muslims not being arrested even after three weeks has led to another attempt on the life of yet another Muslim youth in Kalladka which the Popular Front of India strongly condemns”, said the Secretary of the District PFI Ashraf A K in a press meet held at the SDPI office, State Bank here on June 15.
Addressing the mediapersons Ashraf said, “There is a conspiracy by the Sangh Parivar behind the Kalladka violence and it is the failure of the Police Department and the district administration. Because of political interference, the accused have not been arrested and this has led to a repeat of violence in Kalladka. Those who are involved in pelting stones on the Mosque, police and the public should be severely punished,” he said.
Ashraf further said, “Earlier the District Minister In-charge had assured to take action against those who are involved in the attempt to murder case of two Muslim Youth. But within two weeks, in Kalladka another Muslim youth was targeted. Police have raided houses of 11 Muslims during the night and manhandled the women. The police team that raided the houses did not have any women police, they barged into the houses and manhandled women and assaulted the men”.
Ashraf also said, “The accused in Khaleel assault case Ratnakar Shetty escaped from the hospital despite tight police security. This should be investigated and action should be taken. Those who are creating violence in the society should be severely dealt with. We are in a holy month of Ramadan and some anti-social elements are trying to attack the Muslims. Any untoward incidents taking place in the district because of the failure of the police in controlling anti-social elements, the government will be directly responsible.”
Members of PFI Izaz Ahmed, Zakaria and Saleem Farangipet were also present.
The Indian Express has a column on PFI’s Saudi Connection.
The Saudis are supporting Salafi enterprises in South India, including in Kerala. According to a Saudi embassy cable in Delhi, millions of riyals have been reserved for the Islamic Mission Trust of Malappuram (Kerala), the Islamic Welfare Trust and the Mujahideen Arabic College in Palakkad. Two Islamic organisations have benefited from Saudi financial support: The Popular Front of India and the Social Democratic Party of India. Their names do not reflect their religious overtone, but they are propagating a Salafi version of Islam.
