Sapthotsava concludes with Churnotsava at Sri Krishna Temple
Udupi: “Churnotsava” (day chariot festival) the culmination of the Sapthotsava was held at Sri Krishna Temple on Sunday, January 15 with the participation of thousands of devotees.
After the arrival of the Swamijis of the Ashta Maths, the “utsava murtis” of Lord Krishna and Lord Mukhyaprana were brought in a golden palanquin to the entrance of the temple. They were then shifted to the “Brahma Ratha.” Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Math and other Swamijis offered Puja and prasada to the Lord which was then distributed to the devotees who were present.
The devotees also joined them chanting “Govinda” and “Gopala.” The Ratha was pulled in a clockwise direction on Car Street and back to the entrance of the temple.
Vidyasagara Tirtha Swamiji of Krishnapur Math, Laxmivara Tirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Math, Vishwapriya Tirtha Swamiji and Eshapriya Tirtha Swamiji of Adamar Math, Vidyadisha Tirtha Swamiji of Palimar Math, Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Math, Vishwavallbha Tirtha Swamiji of Sode Math, Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math were also present.
