Saudi Arabia: Indian Social Forum holds Grand Independence Day

Dammam: Indian Social Forum (ISF), Karnataka State Committee organized Independence Day Celebration programmes across the Eastern Province as part of the 69th Indian Independence Day celebration. ISF arranged a platform for Non-Resident Indians to celebrate Independence Day through cultural events, sports, skits and stage shows with great enthusiasm.

There was a public program in Rose Auditorium of Dammam on 15 August, 2015 organised by ISF, Udupi district. Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary of Central Committee Fayaz said, “Being Indians, we should always uphold the sovereignty of the country. We should not keep this day only for mere celebration, but we should also struggle to save our pre-eminent democratic system of India. There is an alarming damage on the democratic system taking place in India through some ideologies. Now, it is our responsibility to save our country’s secular heritage.”
The chief guests – Narendra Shetty (President of Mangalore Association), Anwar Sadath (Vice President of Hidayah Foundation), Abdullah Kutyady (Regional President of India Fraternity Forum) – presented heart full greetings on this occasion. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Cricket Tournament which was held prior on 14 August. Eastern Blue Cricketers Khobar emerged as the Champions while Star Cricketers Krishnapura was the runner-up of the tournament. Sarfraz of Eastern Blue Cricketers Khobar emerged as both Man of the Match and Man of the Series.

ISF Udupi district president Salim gave a short preface on the occasion. Nazrullah Khan welcomed the gathering. Rauf and Khalid Bantwal coordinated the program. Vice president Abdul Rahman delivered the vote of thanks. Patriotic songs were sung by children and a quiz was organised for the audience.
Al Khobar: A public program was also organized in Afsara Auditorium of Khobar on 15 August by members of ISF, DK district. Speaking on the occasion, A M Arif, General Secretary of ISF State Committee said, “Over the past 68 years, our system has completely failed to establish social justice. In such a case, it is our duty to protest against such a system and also to fight for the rights of the people.”

Imran Karkala (Vice President of Jamiyyathul Falah, Dammam), Bande Nawaz of Bijapurians Association, Siraj of Malnad Association and Ahmad Basheer of India Fraternity Forum, Khobar were among the guests present on the dais.
ISF DK district president Siddiq Nandarabettu gave a short preface and welcomed the gathering. Mohammad Nisaaf coordinated the program. Rafiq Uchila delivered the vote of thanks. As part of the program, ISF members demonstrated a skit which brought out the sensation of patriotism and unity among the audience. There was a quiz and other fun activities for the audience and prizes were also distributed to the winners.
ISF also arranged sports events in Jubail and Hasa. Sweets and dinner was served to the audience who participated in the celebration.
