Saudi Arabia: Konkan Ghar Riyadh Celebrates Easter

Saudi Arabia: Konkan Ghar Riyadh (KGR) celebrated ‘Easter – the feast of Risen Lord’ on April 10, 2015 with the Konkani dialect community of Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The celebration commenced with the short introduction elaborating the significance of Easter by Nita Vas Omzoor. Eric D’Sa Pangla, on behalf of KGR, welcomed the audience gathered at the venue.

Laveena Rodrigues Shriva led the Easter prayer service in Konkani. Maria Mathias Shirva delivered the Easter message to the audience.

It was time for fun and entertainment. A short comedy skit was enacted by Uday Rodrigues, Anitha D’Sa, Kevin D’Souza and Manoj Aranha. The games encyclopedia of Riyadh, Amitha Prabhu Bejai, conducted various games to the gathered crowd. Housie housie was conducted by the duo; Royston Prabhu Bejai and Alwyn Rodrigues Shirva. Everyone enthusiastically participated and thoroughly enjoyed.

Freeda Mascarenhas Mukamar recited the prayer before the lunch. Delicious lunch was served to the gathering.

Vote of thanks was delivered by Sunitha Menezes, kallianpur. Nita Vas compered the programme with her well profiled Konkani dialect.

All in all, the whole Easter celebration was very well organized and everyone enjoyed each and every activity of the day thus succeeded in winning over the hearts of the audience.

KGR will be celebrating its Annual Day – “SAMBHRAM 2015” on May 15, 2015.

Are “Konkan Qutam” and “Konkan Ghar” two separate entities in one city of Riyadh where there must be nothing more than 200 Konkhan stalwarts??? First of all you are celebrating the feast of Easter in a land where there is so much of close surveillance on all the religious activities, and now that you have one “Qutahm” and one “Ghar” which should all operate as discretely and as delicately as possible in order to maintain the privacy.
