Addressing the mediapersons Ivan said, “On December 22, Sauharda Christmas will be celebrated at the Kankanady Market Grounds. The programme will be inaugurated by the former central minister Oscar Fernandes at 4:00 pm. District minister in-charge Ramanath Rai, Minister for Food and civil supplies U T Khader and Mayor Harinath will be present.

The director of Father Muller Hospital Fr Richard Coelho, Prajapitha Brahmakumari Eshwariya Vishwavidyalaya Brahmakumari Vishweshwari and president of Sayyed Madani Darga Rasheed Ullal will deliver speeches. All the political leaders, MPs, MLAs and social activists will take part in the programme. There are various contests lined up for children and the winners will receive cash prizes. There will be a cultural programme and more than 5000 people are expected to gather. The programme will also be telecasted live.

On December 23, Sauharda Christmas will be celebrated in Bengaluru. Chief minister Siddaramaiah will be inaugurating the programme. Home minister Dr Parameshwar will preside over the function. The cultural programme will start at 5:30 pm followed by the stage programme.

Ivan further said, “We are in the celebration mood but due to demonetization we are facing problems. We cannot purchase gifts or dress to the children. During Christmas, there is discount sale but we are unable to buy anything. Prime minister has Modi demonetized the currency because of which the daily wage labourers are affected. Even people are unable to spend for marriages. Demonetization has created problems for the common man. In 42 days of demonetization, Modi has brought 42 new rules. How can the street vendors who sell vegetables and fruits survive in a cashless system?” Ivan questioned.

Ivan also said, “We need to curb corruption and put an end to the black money. But why are there restrictions to withdraw and spend our hard earn money? If we have restrictions to withdraw our own hard earned money how is it possible to lead a normal life? How can we depend on cashless transactions, since many people do not have a bank account? I appeal to the prime minister and finance minister to give liberty to withdraw our hard earned money and not to put any restrictions. If we protest against demonetization, the BJP leaders say that Congress people have black money and they are against the demonetization.

India is a democratic country and human rights should not be violated. We condemn the restrictions put on withdrawing our hard earned money. Most of the banks do not have enough currency and when people go to the bank they are not able to withdraw their money. Demonetization is unscientific and the government should withdraw the restrictions on crediting and withdrawing money from the bank. Shobha Karandlaje has urged to bring a cashless system, but how can the people operate in a cashless system if they do not have a bank account or a credit card. This is a preplan to destabilise the Congress party. I urge the prime minister to immediately withdraw the restrictions on withdrawing money from banks.”

Ivan also said that on December 26, Chief minister Siddaramaiah has arranged a meeting related to the Yettinahole project at Bengaluru.

Congress-I trying to politicise religious celebrations?
Why can’t Congress-I move Supreme Court of India, with Senior Advocates like Kapil Sibal with them to argue freely for Ivan, if they have any genuine grounds?
