Mangaluru: SCDCC Bank celebrated its anniversary by distributing relief cheques to families of farmers in a grand celebration at the SCDCC Bank Head Office in Kodialbail here, on April 5.
The co-operative bank gave 50% of the loan amount as relief to the families of farmers who had died after securing farming loans of up to Rs 1 lakh in the year 2014-15. The relief cheques were distributed by District Minister In-charge, B Ramanath Rai. A total of Rs 1.28 crores was distributed to 459 families.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramanath Rai said, “Our famers are dignified and intelligent. They know that the failure of co-operative amounts to their own loss and that is why they approach co-operative banks. I wish SCDCC bank success in its future endeavors.”
President of SCDCC bank, Dr M N Rajendra Kumar said, “It is only the co-operatives that help a farmer genuinely and it is due to the support of our leaders that we have been successful. We face severe competition on all quarters and expect better norms to continue our development.”
DDM, NABARD, Prasad Rao said, “I would like to take this opportunity to bring the attention of the public towards the social security schemes of the central government. We need to improve the coverage of these schemes as they will prove beneficial in times of turbulence. The scheme are attractive as the premium amount is low but the coverage amount is big.”
