SCDCC Bank to Contribute Over Rs 1 crore to Kerala – Kodagu Distress Relief Fund – Rajendra Kumar

Mangaluru: “In Kerala and Kodagu many people have lost their belongings due to heavy rain and floods. Floods have caused widespread devastation and hundreds of families are suffering, many people have been admitted to the hospital due to injuries and sickness. Tourism centers and bridges have submerged in water. Crores worth of assets have been lost and the situation in Kodagu and Kerala is pathetic. It will take a generation to set the things right in Kodagu and Kerala. At this critical time, it is our duty to help the needy people in Kodagu and Kerala. The Navodaya Vikasa Charitable Trust will hand over Rs 10 lakh each to Kodagu and Kerala flood relief Fund and also handover 3000 sarees to Kerala and 2000 sarees to Kodagu today. In addition, the SCDCC bank employees will donate one day of their salary to the relief fund, “Kerala – Kodagu Flood Relief Fund”, account number 00145050000755 IFSC code: IBKLO78SCDC, we will also collect as much funds as possible. Our aim is to collect Rs 50 lakh to be handed over to the needy people”, said the president of SCDCC Bank Dr M N Rajendra Kumar in a press meet held at the Bank premises here on August 25.

Addressing the mediapersons Rajendra Kumar said, “The Navodaya Gram Vikas Charitable Trust will hand over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh each to Kerala and Kodagu. The said cheques will be handed over to the CM of Karnataka to be handed over to Kodagu, and the PM’s Flood relief fund to handed over to Kerala. The Karnataka State Co-operative Federation have already donated Rs 50 lakhs to the CM’s relief fund and a load of Tor dal has been sent to Kerala. In 1999 during the Kargil war, in 2001 during the earthquake in Gujrat, 2004 Tsunami, 2009 North Karnataka floods, 2013 Uttarakhand Floods the twin districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada have done their best to support the victims by sending funds.”

Rajendra further said, “At this critical time, the Dakshina Kannada co-operative banks should be united to collect funds for the flood relief fund. In this connection, we have opened a bank account in the name of “Kerala – Kodagu Flood Relief Fund”, account number 00145050000755 IFSC code: IBKLO78SCDC. Those who are interested to help can remit the amount to the given number. We have 700 staff at SCDCC and they will donate a day’s salary to this account. We will be able to collect more than Rs 50 lakhs. The collected amount will be handed over to the CM and PM’s flood relief fund.”
