Schoolchildren Injured as Car Collides with Autorickshaw at Santhekatte

Udupi: Several students were injured when a car collided with an Auto Rickshaw carrying children at Santhekatte near Kallianpur on Friday, March 15 morning.

A speeding car while trying to overtake another vehicle and an Auto Rickshaw collided with an Auto Rickshaw carrying school children coming from the opposite direction on NH 66 service road.

Seven students from two different English medium schools in Kallianpur who were travelling in the autorickshaw were injured, they were rushed to the hospital in Manipal for treatment.

The auto driver John was also injured in the accident.

Udupi Traffic Police rushed the spot.

Thank God that Rickshaw was carrying only 7 children. Almost I guess most of the Rickshaws carry at least 12 children including one sitting next to driver. Some time back, after the accident at Ulaibettu, Traffic Police were making sudden rides near school gates to catch the Culprit Drivers. It was a show for a short time. Now no one cares. Public eyes will open only when major accident takes place with many deaths.
