Mangaluru: A 20-year-old girl from Shivamogga district went Scuba Diving in the Hawaii with her husband Seetharamakrishna when she drank water inside the water body and had slipped into a coma. Seetharamakrishna works at the Yahoo.com office at San Jose of California, USA. He was on holiday with his wife Shruthi in Hawaii. The couple got married 11 months ago. Currently, Shruthi has been admitted to a hospital in Hawaii.

As her parents do not have the passport, they are not able to visit their daughter, whose condition is said to be severe. Doctors had said that if her parents talked to her, she may gain consciousness. Sources said that she is in the coma from four days. Her husband is by her side. The couple had been to Hawaii on a week-long holiday. They attempted Scuba Diving when the oxygen mask Shruthi was wearing came off, and she drank water from the sea.

Seetharam has made a plea to the Indian Embassy to make provisions for Shruthi’s parents to come to Hawaii. Reacting to the situation, BJP leader and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has asked the authorities concerned to provide passport on the tatkal basis for the parents of the girl. He has requested External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in this regard and said that the department has given a positive reply in this regard.
