SDPI holds ‘Kagaz Nahi Dikhayenge’ protest against CAA, NRC and NPR

Udupi: “PM Modi should show his birth certificate and Degree certificate, along with that of his whole family to the nation. Only then he can ask for papers from the citizens”, said Alphonse Franco national secretary of SDPI.

He was speaking at a protest meet “Kagaz Nahi Dikhayenge” organised by SDPI Udupi district committee at the UMBC ground on January 25 against the newly amended Citizenship Act.

Addressing the protesters Alphonse Franco said, “The Home Minister of our country Amit Shahji is claiming that PM Modi is educated, we want to see his degree in “Political Science”. The whole country has been opposing this discriminatory law after it was passed by Parliament last month, but the government is showing no regard for the people’s sentiments. The Modi government and the ruling BJP are trying to create confusion about the CAA and NRC among the public through contradictory statements. The whole nation is on the streets against this law. Instead of talking to the protesters, they are issuing statements to confuse the people”.

Addressing the protesters Abdul Majeed national general secretary of SDPI said that the central government is implementing NRC and CAA which is against the Constitution of India. GDP has come down to 4.5% in India. Youth don’t get proper job opportunities. Textile and automobile industries are closing down. The suicide cases of farmers are increasing. The central government is trying to divert the attention of the people by implementing NRC and CAA, which is of no use. The central government has cheated the Assamese by giving citizenship to 1.5 crore outsiders. We won’t stop our protests till the central government changes its decision,” he said.

Progressive thinker Fr William Martis, Shashidhar Hemmadi, Vilas Thukaram, Yaseen Malpe, G Rajshekar, Bhaskar Prasad, Asif Koteshwara and others were present.

As usual, troublemakers are misleading Muslim community by creating confusion. There is absolutely no impact on minorities in CAA. Prove me wrong. And, the NRC is not even ready for review. Why are these guys creating a scene in public place and avoiding a debate/legal action? They can go to court and question this. Why are they not doing it? By the way, they have Tipu Sultan’s photo in the background. It shows how they don’t care about Catholic community who suffered immensely in the hands of Tipu Sultan.
