SDPI Leader Ashraf hacked to death at Benjanpadav
Mangaluru: The president of SDPI Ammunje unit Ashraf Kalayi, was hacked to death at Benjanpadav here on June 21.
According to the general secretary of SDPI district Unit A M Athaulla, Ashraf had installed the party flag at Kalayi and was busy in filling the potholes on Kalayi road. After completing the work he was going home by his auto. On the way, some people stopped his auto and asked him to drop them to Benjanapadav. When they reached Benjanapadav they hacked Ashraf to death and fled from the spot.
In 2008 a case of rioting was registered against Ashraf. It is suspected enmity is the cause of the murder. The Bantwal police reached the spot and shifted the body to A J Hospital for post mortem.
A case has been registered in Bantwal police station.
