Sea of Protesters gather at Kannur under ‘We the People of India’, to Protest against CAA, NRC and NPR
Mangaluru: Sea of protesters thronged the Shah Garden at Kannur to show their solidarity and protest against the CAA, NRC and NPR. The protest meeting was organized by the Muslim Central Committee here on January 15.
The protest meeting started with prayer. Kodijal Ibrahim welcomed the gathering. The Qazi of Dakshina Kannada Qazi Al-Haj Twaqa Ahmed Musliyar blessed the protest meeting. The Qazi of Udupi Al-Haj Bekal Ibrahim Musliyar inaugurated the protest meet.
Addressing the protesters Retired IAS officers Harsh Mandar said, “Whenever there is an attempt to divide us in the name of religion, we Indians unite. We do not want hatred and division politics. The CAA, NRC and NPA divide the people of this country and I don’t support this. The preamble to the Constitution declares India to be a Sovereign Socialist Secular Democratic Republic and a welfare state committed to secure justice, liberty and equality for the people and for promoting fraternity, the dignity of the individual and unity and integrity of the nation. But the RSS and the BJP want to make out the country a Hindu nation”.
Harsha Mandar further said, “India is a secular country and everyone has the right to practice their religion. India is not the country of Hindus but is the country of secularism. Hundred years ago the Hindu Maha Sabha was born and since then the fight began. In 1925 the RSS was formed and since then they are trying to make this country a Hindu Rastra. They did not take part in the freedom struggle not supported Gandhiji who fought against the British, in fact, the RSS indirectly supported the British. Now they are implementing the CAA, NRC and NPR and trying to make our country a Hindu nation.”
Harsha Mandar also said, “In 1947 during Independence Pakistan become an Islamic republic and in India, the government chose secularism refusing to recognize the religious pasts of Indian nationalism, whether Hindu or Muslim. The Muslims are in this country by choice and not by chance. Muslims who were willing to remain in India remained here. In 1955 the citizenship act was implemented and those who are born in this country are called Indians. In 2003, the Vajpayee government changed the act, and according to that if the parents are illegal immigrants they are not the citizens of this country. But the Congress party maintained silence. Now the people are united to fight against the government holding the national flags in their hands. Many people are not aware of CAA and NRC. They think that it is to divide the people in the name of religion. We all should be united until we get justice. If anyone asks for documents to prove your citizenship, please don’t provide anything. Personally, I will not provide any documents, if they will arrest me and send me to the detention centre I am ready to go but I will not provide any documents. I respect everyone equally if the government discriminates against anyone based on their religion I will stand by them. In Delhi, women along with their children come out and protest in freezing cold against the CAA and NRC. We all should be united to fight against the CAA and NRC”.
Addressing the gathering, Human rights activist Shivasundar said, “I am here to share the five lies of BJP. In 2014, I had appointed a watchman and now in 2019, the watchman is asking me the documents to see whether I am the owner of the house. We the people of this country are the masters, the Governor, DC, SP, politicians are our servants. Now the Home minister Amit Shah is in confusion as to why there is violence in BJP ruled states? I have attended 27 protests meets where lakhs of people took part but there were very few police. In Mangaluru the police imposed section 144 which led to violence that claimed two lives. With the BJP government, the police are violating the law. Why did the police collect all the CCTV footage from the public? The police are following the orders of the Nagpur republic or Kalladka republic. When the Kalladka republic and Nagpur republic rules there will be killings. Who is inciting the people?”
Shivasundar further said, “Prime minister Narendra Modi is lying and saying that the Congress leaders are Urban Naxals. He says that the CAA is to give citizenship which is a lie because indirectly it is to refuse citizenship to Muslims. India is a secular country but the RSS and Savarkar wanted India to be a Hindu Nation. Recently Kalladka Bhat said if Nehru would have listened to Ambedkar, there wouldn’t have been any danger to the country. Okay, Nehru did not listen, let Kalladka Bhat listen to Ambedkar and Bhat should tell his associates to follow the constitution of Ambedkar. PM Narendra Modi starts lying right from the beginning of his speech by calling Mithro. He is a lier and I have not seen such a PM in my life.”
Addressing the protesters, former IAS officer and member of the “We the People of India”, Kannan Gopinathan said, “The BJP government is creating fear among people of all sections and trying to curb their voice. The BJP government is implementing new laws but it is like a dog that runs behind the car without knowing to follow. By implementing CAA and NRC the government thought that they can keep the people in fear. But there is a limit to everything. Now the people have realized the seriousness of CAA and NRC. After the implementation of CAA people across the country have come out on the streets and are protesting against the government”.
Advocate Sudhir Kumar Maroli said, “We should thank PM Modi and HM Shah because in their tenure two IAS officers Kannan Gopinanthan and Sasikanth Senthil have resigned from their post. Modi was saying that he was selling tea but we have not seen him selling tea, now we are seeing Modi selling our country. Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat protested against the construction of the statue of Jesus in Kanakapur. But he forgot that the contribution of the Christian community is unimaginable. Before the elections, Modi said that Ache Din Ayega but after coming to power when people asked when will the ache din come? He demonetized the currency and people stood in the queue to exchange their hard-earned money. Finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman while presenting the budget brought the budget documents wrapped in a cloth. I want to ask Nirmala Sitharaman when she goes abroad, does she carry her luggage wrapped in a cloth or carry it in the suitcase? When people asked why the onion rate is Rs 100, Nirmala said that she does not use onion. But she forgot that when she gets cold the doctor gives her the cough syrup containing onion extract”.
President of the Muslim Central Committee K S Mohammed Masood delivered the presidential address. Former ministers U T Khader, Ramanath Rai, former MLA Moideen Bava, Vinay Kumar Sorake and J R Lobo MLC B M Farooq, Dr Abdul Rasheed Zainy, U K Abdul Aziz Darimi, Mohammed Kunhi, Mohammed Shakib, M G Mohammed, Rafiuddin Kudroli and B K Imtiyaz, Mithun Rai and others were also present.
