Section 144 clamped in Sastan and Hejamadi toll area
Udupi: Deputy Commissioner T Venkatesh IAS on Friday, February 10 has imposed CRPC Section 144 in a 2kms radius of the Sastan and Padubidri toll gate area. His order came after the protests have been intensified in the region urging to exempt vehicles bearing KA 20 registration and also urging to postpone the collection of toll.
The order was passed in the wake of protests organised by the frontier organisations that are demanding for postponing the collection of toll as the highway construction work is still pending. A meeting conveyed at the deputy commissioner’s office had given 4 days of extension from collecting the toll. The toll collection has started from February 9 midnight.
The protests have been reported In Hejamadi toll area, and on the recommendation of District Superintendent of Police, section 144 has been clamped.
The order will be in force for 5 days commencing from February 10, 2017 till February 15, 2017.
Meanwhile the agitators in Hejamadi toll gate area have called for Udupi district Band on Monday February 13.
