Section 144 Imposed in Mangaluru Commissionerate on Nov 9 and 10
Mangaluru: In connection with the Supreme Court historic verdict on the Ayodhya issue, as a precautionary measures section 144 has been imposed in the Mangaluru City police commissionerate on November 9 and 10″, said police commissioner Dr Harsha while briefing the press near the Clock Tower here on November 9.
Section 144 has been imposed on November 9 from 10:00 am to November 10, 6:00 am in the Mangaluru Commissionerate.
With the Section 144 in place, gathering of more than five persons at one place, carrying any weapons and activities disturbing the peace with the bursting of crackers, pelting stones or carrying similar objects, shouting provocative slogans, displaying pictures of persons or holding processions has been banned.
Speaking to the mediapersons Dr Harsha said, “Today the Supreme Court will give its verdict, from past one week we have discussed the issue with various leaders and requested them to restrain from any celebrations. They have assured us their cooperation with the police department in maintaining law and order in the city”.
Dr Harsha further said, “To avoid any untoward incidents we have imposed section 144 from 10:00 am on 9 November to 6:00 am on November 10. The DC has also announced a holiday to schools and colleges in the district. As a precautionary measure we have deployed enough police personnel. 1000 police personnel including 2 DCP’s, ACPs, Police Inspectors, ASIs, PSIs, Karnataka State Reserved Police (KSRP), City Armed Police (CAR) and Home Guards have been deployed in the city”.
Dr Harsha also said, “I request the social media groups not to circulate any messages related to the Ayodhya verdict which will hurt the sentiments of the people. If anyone posts any audio or video related to the Ayodhya verdict we will take action against them”.
