Sedition Case Should be filed against MP Anant Hedge for Remarks over Gandhiji – DCC

Mangaluru: “The BJP MP Anant Kumar Hegde had said that the Gandhi-Led Freedom Struggle was a Drama which is a great insult to the nation. Mahatma Gandhiji is the father of the nation and is the only one who is known as the father of the nation. There is absolutely no comparison to him in our country. MP Anant Kumar Hegde has praised Godse who assassinated Gandhiji. BJP giving a ticket to such a person is the tragedy in politics”, said the Congress president Harish Kumar during a press meet held at the DCC office, Mallikatta here on February 4.

Addressing the mediapersons Harish Kumar said, “The comments made by MP Anant Kumar is very much objectionable, BJP should sack him. A sedition case should be filed against Anant Kumar and he should be put behind bars. Anant Kumar’s remarks on Gandhiji proves that he has no knowledge about Gandhiji. The BJP government is now ruling in the centre as well as in the state. If Anant Kumar thinks that Gandhiji’s freedom fight was a drama, let him ban Gandhi Bhavan’s and Gandhi statues in his constituency. We will not tolerate any insult to the father of the nation.”

Harish Kumar further said, “This is not the first time Anant Kumar Hegde has spoken negatively about Gandhiji, earlier Anant Kumar had assaulted the doctors, praised Godse and even incited the youth to chop hands if anyone abused Hindu girls. If the party would have put a brake to his inciting speeches and statements, he would not have insulted Gandhiji.

Congress leaders, Ivan D’Souza, Shahul Hameed, T K Sudhir, C M Mustafa, Subhodaya Alva, Prithviraj and Neerajpal were also present.
