Self-taught Artist Kandan G awarded Grand Prize at 18th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh 2018

Mangaluru: Artworks did not attract the market in the olden days. The survival of artists was hard but things have changed now. Today, a lot of encouragement has been given to artists, creating markets to sell their artworks. And here we have Kandan G from Panjimogaru-Mangaluru who is a creative and optimistic artist, and one of his artistic creation has won the Grand Prize at the famous Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh 2018 organized by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy- a National Academy of Fine and Performing Arts. 465 artists from all around the world featured 483 art creations, and in the finals among the three grand prizes, Kandan G received the prize for his art “Samakalina Samaja -98″ (size 48″ X 6”)

Kandan G of Panjimogaru-Mangaluru has worked in different media like acrylic on canvas, mixed media on wooden board with minimum colours. The canvasses and drawings collectively unite to build a statement of human existence or it may be said that they present parallel chapters in a novel, where each segment is dotted with characters different from the rest. In totality, the whole body of work does possess a potential to hold or propose to hold a mirror to life’s myriad forms. Most of his paintings hold a mirror to media, politics and society. There is a mystery surrounding almost all kinds of political and public dispositions. The independent thoughts of an individual are more important than the freedom of the nation. An independent individual of thought can form a wonderful society by a giving tranquil feeling to the individual. The present politics does not allow free thought. No doubt that Kandan G, a self Though Artist expresses his thoughts in the form of Art.

During a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, NS Patthar-Head of Painting Division-Mahalasa School of Arts Mangaluru briefed the media persons about Kandan G’s achievements in Art field.
