Senior Woman Drowns while Crossing River near Subrahmanya
Subrahmanya: Devaki (66), a resident of Battikatte in Kootkunja of Panja, slipped while crossing a rivulet in the same village on Saturday.
She was returning from work on her way home. While crossing the river, she failed to gauge the depth of pits caused by sand extraction.
In the meantime, the water from a barrage upstream had been released. The level of water rose higher as a result of it.
Her body was found on the bank by another woman on the next day. A case has been registered in Subrahmanya police station.
