Seniors Got Talent! KMC Navachaitanya Elders Rock the House at New Year Celebrations

If “India Got Talent”, then locally our “Seniors Got Talent” too! KMC Navachaitanya Elders Rock the House at New Year Celebrations held at KMC Bejai Mini Hall on Saturday, 5 January 2019.

Mangaluru : As they say “Better Late Than Never”, the members of KMC Nava Chaitanya-Bejai due to a few busy engagements within the members, celebrated the New Year Day on Saturday, 5 January 2019 in Revelry, Joy and Fun at the KMC Bejai Hall- with quite a number of members in attendance, along with friends and well-wishers. Nava Chaitanya Bejai joined in the celebrations by KMC Nava Chaitanya-Attavara and Spoorthi Charitable Trust, Mangaluru was truly exhilarating .The program began with invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song, followed by welcome address by Ms Devipradha Hegde the President of KMC-NC.

The Celebrations was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Chief Guest Ms Premalatha B- Manager , HR Department, KMC Hospital, Attavar-Mangaluru; along with Guests of honor- Dr Anupama Hegde- Prof and HOD of Biochemistry, KMC Bejai, Mangaluru; Dr Sneha B Shetty- Associate Professor, Dept of Physiology, KMC Bejai-Mangaluru, and Ms Devipradha Hegde. The audience was predominately mixed with young and old, all assembled to have some fun and frolic while stepping into the New Year 2019.

Addressing the audience, chief guest Ms Premalatha B said, ” It’s nice to note that these seniors are trying to keep themselves active and healthy through various exercises, including yoga. Being healthy and active is the right thing to start a healthy and active New Year. By looking at all these members here, they don’t look look in their vintage nature, but look active, enthusiastic and young. We need to appreciate the efforts put in by KMC Nava Chaitanya thro gh their yeoman service and care provided to its members, who are able to keep their life healthy through exercises and diet. Seeing all these young members in their vintage age who were active, means there is still fun in life at a older age. Me also being a member of this organization, I am very happy to amidst these young and energetic seniors, and partaking in the yoga classes which has kept me fit and trim”

Dr Anupama Hegde said, “The joy that I find in these Nava Chaitanya members is truly contagious and adds life to everyday activities. Regular exercise is very good for your body and can keep you healthy. It is helpful to do cardiovascular exercise, which can get your heart rate up, therefore strengthening your heart and helping to lower your blood pressure. Regular exercise also helps to tone your muscles and increase your metabolism. You can see a benefit in your cholesterol and glucose, which can have a long-term benefit in your health. Staying fit through aerobic activity will help keep your heart and lungs strong.  Keeping these strong will help send oxygen to your muscle.  This will result in an increased endurance and the ability to prevent you from getting winded. In addition, you will be stronger over time which will help increase bone density which will be very beneficial for your body in the long haul. I am happy to see you all very active even at this golden age. Keep it up”.

Dr Sneha B Shetty also addressing the audience said, “I also feel appy when I see your happy faces in the evening during your yoga session. The purpose of yoga is to build strength, awareness and harmony in both the mind and body. As an physician, I focus a lot of my efforts on preventive medicine and practices, and in the body’s ability to heal itself. Yoga is a great tool for staying healthy because it’s based on similar principles. The relaxation techniques incorporated in yoga can lessen chronic pain, such as lower back pain, arthritis, headaches and carpal tunnel syndrome. Yoga can also lower blood pressure, reduce insomnia, improve respiration, energy and vitality, weight reduction, increased flexibility and much more. You are all doing great in keeping yourself healthy and fit through yoga lessons”.

Prizes were distributed to the winners in various competitions held earlier. A brilliant program of fun and frolic followed. There was a medley of songs, dances , both western and Indian classical, couple of skits loaded with humour, all enacted to perfection by all the Nava Chaitanya-Bejai and Attavar and Spoorthi Charitable Trust members. Ms Devi Pradha Hegde thanked everyone who have helped in organizing the event. The formal function was compered by Ms Nirmala Bhasker, while the cultural part was compered by Ms Devipradha Hegde. Dances ranging from Goan Baila and Pili Nalike, enthralled the audience, which also
made them swing their bodies sitting right on their respective chairs? There was a round of Housie Housie after a sumptuous lunch. No doubt that these vintage revelers truly rock by doing exercise everyday and interacting which gives joy and energy to their daily lives. The rare and energetic celebrations, cutting across all divides halted after devoutly and proudly singing the national anthem.
