Serial Burglars Arrested by CCB Police, Rs 8.4 lakh Worth Items seized
Mangaluru: The CCB police led by Inspector Sunil Naik arrested three burglars in connection with the burglary at the Government quarters in the city on November 2.
The arrested have been identified as Jayanth alias Sandeep alias Tapori (23), Vijwal Poojary (23) and Gunavati (48) all from Madya Katipalla.
According to the police, on October 12, at 1:30 pm Jose and Theresa from Mescom KPTCL quarters, Bondel had locked their house and gone to see their mother at KMC Hospital Jyothi. When they returned at 5:30 pm, they found that someone had opened the backside door of their house and cash along with 20 sovereign gold was missing. In this connection, a case was filed in the Kavoor Police station under section 454 and 380 IPC.
In another incident on October 24, at Urwa PWD quarters Harish had locked his room at 9:45 pm and gone to work. When he returned for lunch, he found the back door being opened and burglars had decamped with 20 sovereign gold. In this connection, a case was filed in the Urwa police station under section 454 and 380 IPC.
Accused Jayanth was involved in three cases, two months ago he was released on bail. Earlier too, Jayanth had broken into a House and stolen Gold ornaments. In 2014 an attempt to murder case was registered against Jayanth in the Suratkal police station and in 2016 an extortion case was registered in the Urwa police station.
Accused Vijwal Poojary was involved in the Manikanta murder in Chelaru, and three attempts to murder cases in Katipalla, Jokatte and Karkala. Four months ago Vijwal was released on bail. He was arrested under the Goonda act, he was the aide of Kodikere Manoj.
Jayanth was pledging the stolen gold in finance companies in Suratkal through Vijwal and Gunavati on a commission basis.
The CCB police have recovered 131 grams of gold ornaments, Rs 15,000 cash, Mobile phone, artificial jewellery, Knife, iron rod, Bajaj Pulsar and Mahindra Bolero all worth Rs 8,44,657 from their possession. The accused have been handed over to Kavoor police station for further investigation.
Under the able direction of Police Commissioner T R Suresh, and the able guidance of DCP Law and Order Hanumantharaya and DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth the operation was carried out by the CCB inspector Sunil Naik and team.
