Service of Retired Police remembered on Flag Day in Udupi
Udupi: The Police Flag Day to honour personnel for their dedication to duty was held at the Chandu Maidan Udupi on Tuesday, April 2.
Retired PSI Gopalkrishna Ganiga was the Chief Guest at the function. He received the Guard of Honour from various police troupes. G Anand Kumar RPI DAR led the Parade.
In his message, Gopalkrishna Ganiga said, “The public and the police should maintain a good rapport to check the crime rate. He called upon the police personnel to be people friendly in discharging their duties. Police should be cautious and very patient while handling sensitive issues,” he said.
He also urged the SP to extend the benefit of Arogya Bhagya health insurance percentage from 12 percent to 50 percent.
Nisha James Superintendent of Police Udupi District welcomed the gathering and said that to remember the service of retired cops and encourage police officials the Flag Day is celebrated attempting good relationship with the public.
Every year police flags are sold and funds collected. The money is used for the benefit of retired and working cops. It is used for the welfare of cops, to meet their medical and other expenses, she said.
A sum of Rs 3,13,714 as medical aid was handed over to 70 retired police personnel on the occasion.
Additional SP Kumar Chandra delivered the vote of thanks. Jaishanker DySP Udupi, Krishnakanth ASP Karkala, Dinesh Naik DySP Kundapur were also present.
