The judge has also directed legal aids service to consider compensation for the parents of the victim”. Briefing on this victims case, Ms Crasta said, “Mohan Kumar, posing as Sudhakar Gowda, had met the victim a resident of Bantwal at the Vittla Bus Stop and got her phone number. He became too friendly with her, and offering to marry her, requested her to come to Puttur Bus Stop on 22 April 2009, along with all her jewellery. Trusting Mohan, she quit her nursing job at a Puttur Nursing Home and escorted Mohan to Mysuru, where they both stayed in a hotel room. There he raped her, assuring her that he will marry her”.

“The following day on 23 April 2009, Mohan requested her to keep all her jewellery and other belongings in the hotel room, telling her that he had made an appointment for a job interview for her, and convincing her offered her cyanide pills as pregnancy preventive pills, which killed the woman in a restroom at a KSRTC Bus Stand in Mysuru. The victim’s body was recovered by the Mysuru police, who booked the case as unnatural death. Unfortunately, the case did not proceed further since the victim’s family didn’t file a missing person complaint, for the fact, Mohan Kumar acting as Sudhakar Gowda, had informed the victim’s family members that they are happily married, and will return home in few days” added Ms Crasta.

Ms Judith Crasta further said, “After this incident, Mohan had lured three women using this victim’s phone number. Even though Mohan has been booked in 20 murder cases using his same tactics, today’s court conviction is for his sixth case, wherein the other five cases, Mohan has been sentenced to death in one case; lifetime death without remission in two more cases; and death sentence commuted to life and 5 years of rigorous imprisonment in another case. Still, fourteen more cases are pending for trial in the court”.

Sources reveal that apart from murder, Mohan was also alleged to have been involved in bank loan frauds and forgeries. He was a primary school physical education teacher from 1980 to 2003.

I wonder why this is not a rarest of rare cases. Even a wild animal which has no sense of right or wrong kills 20 people, we would kill it. But this intelligent creature knowing what is right and wrong had chosen to kill after enjoying them has to be one of the worst things to be born on this earth and deserves only capital punishment. Anything else would be dangerous and taxing for the society.
