Shiriyara President protests against dissolving GP
Manipal: Jyothi president of Shiriyar Gram Panchayat has been protesting outside the ZP Office, Udupi over moving a resolution for dissolving Shiriyara Gram Panchayat at the ZP general meeting.
Speaking to the media persons Jyothi said that she has been targeted for being the president from the Dalit community. The members were intentionally absent for the general meetings. Ganapa Mogaveera, PDO of Shiriyara Gram Panchayat was suspended for irregularities. A complaint has been filed against the GP members for being absent for the general meeting to the election commission, ZP and TP.
The TP and ZP administration instead of taking action against the members for being absent has moved a resolution to dissolve the Shiriyara Gram Panchayat. The move is anti-Dalit. The administration should drop the proposal to dissolve GP, she added.
