Shiroor Swamiji to kick-start election campaign from Malpe on April 8
Udupi: Sri Laxmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Math will kick-start the campaign for the Assembly elections from Malpe on April 8.
Speaking to media persons Sri Laxmivara Theertha Swamiji said, “On April 8 at 4:00 pm I will start my election campaign from Malpe after offering prayers at the Vadabhandeshwara Temple. Thereafter I will visit the nearby areas and seek the support of the Mogaveera community for the assembly elections. For one month I will spend my time for the election campaign in the Udupi Assembly constituency and will also hear the grievances of the people. If I get elected as an MLA, I will give first preference to sort-out the problems of the people”, he added.
Swamiji further said, “During the elections, I will not criticise any other party politicians or the Government. My intention is only to hear the problems of the voters and find ways to sort them out. That is my election strategy”.
When asked about getting the election ticket from BJP, Swamiji said, “Until now no one has contacted me in this matter. “I will be happy if the BJP offers me a ticket from the Udupi constituency. If not, I will contest as an independent candidate”.
Swamiji also said, “A large number of the student community and youth have agreed to come and campaign for me. I am not going to spend huge amounts of money for the elections. The College student leaders have also extended their support and help me to win the elections”, he said.
