Shiroor Swamiji withdraws Nomination for Udupi Assembly Constituency

Udupi: After many days of high drama, independent candidate Sri Laxmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Math has withdrawn his nomination for the Udupi Assembly constituency on April 27.

Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Math had announced to contest the Assembly elections and filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate for the Udupi Constituency on April 21. While filing the nomination papers the Swamiji fell sick due to dehydration and was later admitted to the hospital.

While filing the nomination papers, the Swamiji said, “If Modi requested me to withdraw my nominations I would definitely do so. I will continue my attempt to get a ticket from the BJP to contest the upcoming elections.”

After withdrawing the nomination papers, the Swamiji said, “My support is always to the Modi government and there is no change in it. He is working for the betterment of the nation as well as the Hindu community. I am not ready to go against Modi and his work, so I have decided to withdraw my nomination.”
