Shobha Karandlaje demands NIA probe in Paresh Mesta murder case

Bengaluru: The BJP general secretary and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje on Friday demanded a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the murder of Hindu activist, Paresh Mesta in Honnavar, Uttara Kannada district which came to light on Friday. “How many more Hindu activists should die for chief minister Siddaramaiah to act decisively”? the BJP general secretary asked, while speaking to the mediapersons at the BJP office here.

The heinous and cold-blooded murder of Paresh Mesta is the handi-work of jehadi elements that are active in the coastal districts, she demanded an NIA probe into all the murders in the coastal region including that of Paresh Mesta at Honnavar perpetrated by jehadi forces.

Giving graphic details of how Paresh Mesta was killed, Shobha Karandlaje said, “Mesta who belonged to the Mogaveera community, was tortured to unimaginable extent resulting in his body turning complete black. This is a heinous murder carried out by jehadi elements”.

Shobha accused the police for not initiating any precautionary measures even though they were witness to a group of youth armed with knives and lathis near the Shani Temple. It is surprising that the police have not taken even a single person into custody although they are aware of the identity of the killers, the BJP general secretary added.

Shobha Karandlaje also accused the police of concealing the murder of Paresh Mesta because of the chief minister’s visit to Uttara Kannada district and brought it to the notice of the public only on Friday.

“The chief minister has a soft corner for the Popular Front of India. He had given them the permission to hold rallies even though the involvement of the PFI in the murder of Rudresh and Sharath Madivala has been proved beyond doubt. It has also been established that the PFI is the puppet of the dreaded ISI of Pakistan. In-spite of all these glaring facts, if the chief minister still considers PFI as an innocent organisation, then it is nothing but vote-bank politics”, she accused.

She also charged that administrative paralysis has gripped the police department including the intelligence wing because of which the government has no clue of the impending tragedy. “I reiterate the BJP’s demand of a total ban of the PFI, KFD and SDPI and an NIA probe into all the murders in the entire coastal region,” demanded Shobha.
