Almere (Netherlands), Oct 11 (IANS) Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram retained the $50,000 Dutch Open Grand Prix men’s singles title by beating Estonia’s Raul Must 21-12, 21-18 in the final here on Sunday.
From the very first game, Jayaram was at his very best and did not fall behind. He clinched it quite easily as Raul failed to come up with the answers.
In the second game, Raul slowly crawled back into the contest, forcing Jayaram to play some false strokes. Both shuttlers were locked at 7-7 at one point of time.
World No.26 Jayaram, however, did not lose his nerve and showed great determination to surge ahead and was finally able to bag the game 21-18. The 28-year-old sealed the match in only 34 minutes.
