Sibling Jealousy resulted in Samson Killing Fiona – CP Dr Harsha
Mangaluru: “Fiona’s father due to health issues had resigned from his job and her mother has been working in an IT company. Fiona’s brother Samson was addicted to drugs and he was a dropout. Twenty-year-old Samson was studying in an Engineering college but because of his drug addiction had dropped of college and was at home. Usually, when a family member goes missing, all the other members of their family suffer. Since this was a sensitive matter, all the family members were taken into confidence for investigations. As Samson was giving misleading statements we intensified our investigations based on the information collected by our police. In the process, we came to know that Samson himself had killed his sister by hitting her with a hammer. This is a case of sibling jealousy, the accused had felt that his parents loved only his sister neglecting him”, said the police commissioner Dr Harsha in a press meet held at his office here on October 28.
Addressing the mediapersons Dr Harsha said, “Whatever the information that is available with us, we have taken Samson into custody and he has revealed that he had killed his sister in an inhumane way. According to the preliminary investigations, whatever details we have received, we have submitted the report to the forensic team and are now waiting for their report. We have recovered the skeletal remains of the deceased. ACP Kodandaram and his team have worked relentlessly to crack this case”.
Dr Harsha further said, “During the investigations, Samson has revealed, “After dropping-out from college, my parents were not treating me well, they were always favouring Fiona. I was feeling that I was neglected by my parents. My parents were even giving breakfast first to my sister. She was good in studies and my parents were always favouring her, they had taken my mobile phone and given it to her”. This is jealousy between siblings which resulted in committing the crime”.
Dr Harsha also said, “After the murder, Samson was not at home for two days saying that he had a severe headache. Samson had used a hammer and hit Fiona very hard on the head. Fiona died because of severe bleeding. We will collect all the relevant reports from the experts”.
When asked whether his addiction associates involved in the murder, Dr Harsha said, so far according to the accused the murder was committed by him alone. We are checking from all the angles. The forensic team will submit the report about the exact cause of death. We have asked for police custody of Samson and soon we will submit the charge sheet to the court.
When asked whether the family members were present during the incident, Dr Harsha said, “On October 8, Samson’s father went outside at 11:00 am and returned at 1:30 pm. The murder took place between 11 am to 1.30 pm. After killing Fiona, Samson dragged Fiona’s lean body, nearly 100 meters behind the house and dumped it in the drain covered by bushes. Due to the heavy rains, people failed to notice it. As soon as Samson admitted to the crime, ACP North Kodandaram along with his team visited the spot and recovered the skeletal remains”.
Answering the ganja connection to the case Dr Harsha said, “We have raided many places, arrested a number of ganja suppliers and sent them to jail. Parents should co-operate with the police when their children are addicted to drugs. Here, parents do not want to come out because of the social stigma. We have controlled the supply side and curbed the drug peddlers. When parents find their children addicted to drugs, they should take medical assistance, they should come forward to take help to bring their children out of addiction. Addicted children should be treated as victims and not criminals. They need to be admitted to the de-addiction centers. In 2 months we have filed 31 cases and arrested 73 persons. Our drive will continue to curb the supply of drugs. Parents should strictly monitor their children and inform the police if they find their children addicted to drugs”.
Root cause obviously is the drug menace. Sibling Rivalry is just a consequence.
