Siblings Commit Suicide by Self-immolation in Bantwal
Mangaluru: In a suicide pact, a brother and sister set themselves ablaze by pouring Petrol at Sangabettu here on June 15 late night.
The deceased have been identified as Neelayya Shettigar (42) and his sister Kesari (39) from Sangabettu, Bantwal.
According to sources, on June 15 at around 11:00 pm, both the siblings poured petrol on them before setting themselves ablaze. Their elder brother is also staying in the same house along with his family. When he heard the screams of Neelayya and Kesari, he rushed to their room and saw them on fire.
Neelayya and Kesari were immediately rushed to the Bantwal government hospital, but both succumbed to their burns.
Bantwal Rural police Sub Inspector Prasanna along with the staff reached the spot for further investigations. Both the siblings were unmarried, and Neelayya was suffering from health issues.
