Siddaramaiah hits back at Shobha’s bangle remarks
Hubballi: BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje’s statement asking Siddaramaiah to wear bangles if he could not keep the Congress MLAs united, echoed throughout the day, while
Siddaramaiah also blamed that she has made a cheap remark which has insulted women.
“Coalition Government Co-ordination Committee chairman Siddaramaiah is alleging that State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa tried to poach Congress MLAs. It is Siddaramaiah who is creating confusion in the alliance, and is not speaking about development issues. Let Siddaramaiah wear bangles if he could not keep his MLAs united and could not work,” she said.
“Leaders have to take the MLAs of their party into confidence. Otherwise, what kind of leaders are they? Unable to pacify Congress MLAs, Siddaramaiah is unnecessarily blaming Yeddyurappa. He is also blackmailing the Congress high Command by saying that he would not context in the next elections,” she alleged.
Siddaramaiah took to Twitter to gave a reply, and he condemned her statement, charging that she opined as if the entire women fraternity is inefficient, though she is also a woman.
“Being a MP, she has not worked well, but, that does not mean that all those who wear bangles are inefficient. One should remember that Kittur Channamma, Onake Obavva, and Indira Gandhi wore bangles but they achieved a lot,” Siddaramaiah added.
Later, he also said, Shobha herself is not wearing bangles, and why should he wear bangles.
KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao also condemned Shobha’s statement, saying that she has insulted women.
Minister D K Shivakumar satirically said, “let Shobhakka herself send bangles to us, and we will wear the bangles happily.”
Minister Jameer Ahmed Khan also condemned Shobha Karandlaje, asking why she is speaking about Congress, instead of focusing on her party. Has Yeddyurappa dropped her from the party, he asked.
Minister Jayamala asked Sobha to withdraw her statement. Only those who do not work, and do not know about others work say so, she said.
With this, the war of words between politicians reached a new low, when only one day is left for public campaigning for Kundgol by-elections. Leaders of both parties are on hectic campaigning.
