Siddhartha was upset over IT Torture – Sringeri MLA TD Rajegowda
Mangaluru: As the body of the founder of Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) V G Siddhartha, was found at Hoige Bazaar during the early hours of July 31, the police commissioner reached the spot and had the body to the mortuary at the Wenlock hospital. As soon as the news spread a large number of well-wishers and relatives gathered at the Wenlock hospital mortuary.
Former ministers Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, Vinay Kumar Sorake, MLC Ivan D’Souza and MLA of Sringeri also reached the Mortuary.
Speaking to the mediapersons Sringeri MLA TD Rajegowda broke into tears and said, “Siddhartha was my very close friend and a well-disciplined gentleman. He was allegedly upset because of the torture by the Income Tax department and the bank. I am associated with Siddhartha from the past 40 years, he was our close family friend. While I met him on July 27, he was very upset because of the torture by the income tax department. He would have survived if the IT department would not have tortured him”.
Rajegowda also said, “Siddhartha worked for the development of the country and the economy of Karnataka. He has provided jobs to more than 25000 people. He was actually trying to sell his property to pay the debt but the bank and the IT department did not allow him to sell it. He had more than enough assets to settle the debt.”
