Mumbai, Nov 15 (IANS) Actor Sidharth Malhotra has decided to lend support to an initiative to raise awareness about diabetes and how to fight the disease.
The actor will join a press conference organised by his eye doctor on Monday here.
Sidharth, who’s quite health conscious, says diabetes can strike anyone, irrespective of age, and “unhealthy eating habits, stress and a sedentary lifestyle” makes one more vulnerable to it.
“In our industry and with a lot of professionals, it is quite common to develop unhealthy eating habits, suffer stress and lead a sedentary lifestyle due to the hectic pace of life and being glued to our desk. All of these compound to causing diabetes and it can affect someone as young as a 20-year-old,” Sidharth said in a statement.
The “Student of the Year” actor is hence glad to be part of the cause.
“I am grateful to All India Ophthalmological Society and the Indian Medical Association for giving me an opportunity to come together in support of their initiative to raise awareness on diabetes and diabetic retinopathy,” Sidharth said.
“I hope diabetics from across the country will take advantage of the free eye testing clinics being organised by these medical bodies and take care of their vision,” he added.
Sidharth, who recently was in news for being roped in as New Zealand’s tourism ambassador in India, is busy shooting for films “Kapoor and Sons” and “Baar Baar Dekho”.
