Silence looms large at Khattar residence
Chandigarh: With BJP not managing the show as was expected by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in the Assembly election, there was silence at his official residence on Thursday as the results threw up a close contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress.
If current trends hold, BJP (39) is little ahead of Congress (29) in Haryana but none are in position to form the Government on their own. JJP is leading in 11, while Independent (6), as counting progresses for the 90-member Assembly.
It is learnt that Khattar is summoned to New Delhi by party President Amit Shah.
Faridabad MP Krishan Pal Gurjar said: “Manohar Lal Khattar has reached New Delhi and is holding discussions with the party high command.
“As far as result trends are concerned, people have voted for BJP and the government will be formed in Haryana under the leadership of Manohar Lal Khattar.”
Earlier, the party had planned a big show of strength at the Khattar’s residence.
The Chief Minister is leading in Karnal assembly seat by over 14,000 votes. He is seeking re-election from the seat.
However, BJP candidate and outgoing minister Capt Abhimanyu is trailing from Narnaund seat.
