‘Simple Agi Ondu Marriage Story’ Muslim girl and Dalit boy tie the knot

Kundapur: With much objections from family members a Muslim girl tied the knot with a Hindu Dalit youth at Kundapur here on Tuesday, May 2.

Vivek and Salma both are from the Vinayaka Nagar colony of Kumbhashi. It is said that they were in love from two years. Vivek is working in a furniture shop and Salma works as an attender in a private school in Kundapur.

Both decided to get married in a simple manner as Salma’s family members opposed their marriage. Salma’s family members had put forth a demand to Vivek, that only if he is ready to convert to Islam, then only their marriage was possible. But Salma Rejected her family members demand.

Later both approached the Mahila Santhvana Kendra Kundapur president and social worker Radha Das who heard their story and agreed to help them. She tried to convince both the families, Vivek’s family members agreed, but Salma’s family did not agree to the marriage.

With the help of the local police and women’s and child welfare department, Radha Das fixed the marriage date. On Tuesday, May 2, the Marriage function was organized at the Mahila Santhvana Kendra Kundapur in a simple way. Both got married exchanging the garlands and later Vivek tied the Mangalasoothra to Salma. A few friends and Media persons witnessed the ‘Simple Agi ondu Marriage Story’ and wished the couple a prosperous wedded life.

The couple after getting married met the local Police and sought police protection.

What a beautiful couple!! Made for each other! My special congratulations and wishes go to brave Salma for rejecting the stereotypes and doing what is right. I also thank the secular values of Bharatha Desha that allows one Salma to get married to one Vivek without fearing for her life.

By the way, a very good and honest reporting without taking sides!! Thank you all.
