Six arrested in Melrick D’Souza Murder Case
Mangaluru: The Pandeshwar police have arrested six persons in connection with the murder of Melrick D’Souza here on December 28.
The arrested have been identified as Nishak Poojary (28) from Valencia, Vinesh Kumar (30) from Gorigudda, Sachin Shetty alias Sachin (22) from Mulihithlu, Ganesh Kulal alias Ganesh alias Ganete (34) from Jeppinamogeru, Praveen Poojary (42) from Nekkaremar Kankanady and Sandeep Shetty (33) from Jeppu Kudpadi.
According to the police on December 25, at around 1:00 am, Melrick was hacked with Machetes near his house in Gorigudda. The police have arrested all the six accused and seized 2 weapons, two motorbikes and two mobile phones which were used for committing the crime from their possession.
There was enmity between the accused Nishak Poojary and Melrick D’Souza. In May 2016, Melrick D’Souza was involved in an attempt to murder of Sandeep Shetty in Marnamikatte. To take revenge for the attack, Sandeep Shetty along with Nishak Poojary, Vinesh Kumar, Sachin, Praveen and Ganesh alias Gante hacked Melrick D’Souza to death on the December 25.
Among the accused Praveen was involved in the Devaddas murder case at Jeppinamogeru and an attempt to murder of Raja at Pumpwell. Vinesh Kumar was also involved in the attempt to murder of Raja at Pumpwell and Sandeep Shetty was involved in two assault cases. Sachin is a student of Hotel Management in the city.
Under the able guidance of Police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Law and order Hanumantharaya, DCP crime and traffic Uma Prashanth and ACP Ram Rao, the operation was carried out by the Police Inspector of Pandeshwar Station Belliyappa K, PSI Rajendra B, Manjula and team.
